www.gamblinghelper.com The American Psychiatric Association issued a health advisory (January 16, 2001) about Internet gambling. The advisory, from the committee on Treatment Services for Addicted Patients, notes that there has been tremendous growth of gambling opportunities in the last several years. This includes Internet gambling aimed at children and teenagers. Children can link to gambling sites from other game sites, and are lured by free gifts and discounts. Internet gambling can be more dangerous than other forms of gambling since there are few – if any – regulations as to fairness, and most of the operators are outside the US. These operations are not regulated by state or federal statutes, so there is no control over the types of games available or the ages of the participants. Hackers can manipulate the games, and can gain access to credit card numbers and funds. As of 2000, there were more than 1300 online gambling sites with revenues in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Research has shown a correlation between the availability of legal gambling in a state, and the proportion of the state’s population who report gambling addiction or lesser problems. In all states, the rates of gambling problems are highest in high school and college-aged young adults. According to the advisory, about 10% to 15% of young people surveyed in the US and Canada report having experienced one or more problems related to gambling. This includes an estimated 1% to 6% who may …

@ciggyface Shut your face idiot and read again what i write. Pokerstars, Fulltilt etc does NOT have a casino and is NOT a casino, it is a pokersite. These sites does not make money off losses and wins, they make money from the rake that is a little part of every pot that is played, regardless of who’s the winner of that pot. They make money off people that are playing on the sites and not the loosers. I am a winning poker player and you sir are a fool!

If you lose money playing Texas Hold’em or Omaha online is because you have no idea how the game works, you are really stupid with your bankroll managment and you make alot of bad bad decisions.
I started with 10$ playing no-limit hold’em in the lowest stakes (.01 and .02c) in PokerStars and so far i made 350$ in 3 months… im not saying that im rich or that i am some sort of expert or something like that, all you need to be a winner playing online poker is discipline and bankroll managment.

Very few people win in online poker. There are millions of people losing money and destroying thier lives because of Internet poker sites myself included. Who even knows if these sites are giving you a fair deal. All you can do is hope that they are there is not a shred of evidence that these games can’t be rigged except poker sites claim that it isn’t in thier interest to rig games based on rake they get on daily and yearly basis. Look at ultimate bet and absolute poker.

Pokersites money earnings are not depended on someone loosing or winning, they take a very small amount from the pot no matter how big the pot is.

What is it? something like 40-50% of the U.S. economy comes from casinos? That to me is the real problem… Are polliticians doing anything about that?? No. So why online poker “Americans game” because they arn’t getting a slice from it.

I will be the first to admit that I have a gambling problem sometimes.. I use to play pokie machines ” Slots” and lost big money on them monsters!!! As any professional will tell you once a problem gambler you always have that temptation…I can now play a few hrs a week with very low risk…I can play a 10c game that sometimes last for hrs..where as at a club/casino I can lose 10c minimum per second.
There simple isn’t any 10c live poker games who would bother?

Whats sick about this argument here is… In Australia we have these stupid mobile phone ads that cost $4 per txt for your chance to win $100,000!!! In small print at the bottem it says for ages 14+
Wtf this is gambling from the lounge and you only have to be 14? That goes unnoticed ??
I’m an online poker player I lost $50 the first few months I played. I refilled and I’m now probly $400+ with my bankroll strategy. Why is this such a big deal? Why should I lose my freedom to do what I enjoy.
